Farndon Health Centre Equipment Fund

The Farndon Health Centre Equipment Fund was started in 1985 and has run continually since then. The aid is to provide additional equipment that would not normally be funded by the NHS which can be used both in the surgery and the community by our District Nurses, which is for the benefit and comfort of the patients. The Equipment Fund is funded by fundraising and donations.

The fund is a registered charity and consists of three Trustees, Officers and a working Committee. These are Chris Crossley, Lorna Donovan and Helen Dutton.

During the last 12 months Equipment Fund money has purchased the following:

  • ECG machine – £2,949
  • Paediatric Pulse Oximeter – £ 107
  • Additional user licence for the dictation system – £ 376
  • Training course in Minor Illness attended by our 2 Practice Nurses – £ 720

Prescription Entitlement Card

If you live in Wales close to the border but your GP is in England where prescriptions cost more you can apply for an entitlement card.

Since 1st August 2006 qualifying patients (ie those living in Wales but registered with a GP practice in England) have been able to apply to their Shared Services Partnership for an entitlement card. Cardholders are able to get their prescription dispensed for free providing they take it to a Welsh pharmacy to get it dispensed.
