Footpath Adopters

Footpath adopters are people who walk a footpath on a regular, or intermittent basis. Adopters would walk their chosen footpaths periodically to check for faults

It is intended to:

  • Keep stiles and footpaths free of overgrowth
  • Remove litter
  • Join a team of footpath workers for periodic minor repairs/litter picking etc.
  • Check for:
    • damaged stiles / footboards / bridges
    • inadequate signage and waymarkers, especially at roads.
    • obstructions e.g. padlocks, barbed wire, overgrowth.
    • Cropping over path with no reinstatement.
